The Texas Digital Library (TDL) welcomes faculty and staff from all TDL member institutions to participate in full- and half-day workshops covering TDL services and technologies and topics related to digital libraries, preservation, and scholarly communication. TDL-hosted workshops take place at various locations throughout the state in order to accommodate our geographically dispersed user base.

The Texas Digital Library and the ACRL Digital Curation Interest Group are co-sponsoring two POWRR workshops, to be held at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas July 7th and 8th. Registration is free, but space is limited.
This full-day workshop is made possible in part by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring human endeavor. The workshop was created as a result of an IMLS-funded study on identifying practical digital preservation solutions for small- and mid-sized libraries. Instructors will not be addressing the “why” of digital preservation; rather, we are preparing for the “how”… providing hands-on, practical experience. Attendees will practice the accession of a digital collection using a simple, open source tool; learn about several digital preservation tools and services; and create an institution-specific action plan for making progress towards digital preservation goals. Introduction to DSpace

Cost: Free for TDL Members
This course provides beginner-level DSpace users with an overview of the use and management of DSpace repositories. Students will gain hands-on experience with DSpace and the use of the DSpace administrative interface. Repository managers are the primary audience for this course.
Topics include:
- How to create communities and collections
- How to submit and proceed items through the repository workflow
- How to adjust access options for users and items in DSpace
- How to edit items in DSpace
- Highlights of other DSpace features
