Because of the Texas Digital Library’s consortium membership in the Open Education Network, TDL member institutions are eligible to join OEN as direct institutional members at the reduced membership rate of $608 annually, a third of the standard annual membership cost.
Institutions interested in pursuing direct institutional membership in OEN should complete this form by May 1, and OEN staff will follow up to answer any questions and continue the conversation.

About the Open Education Network
OEN is an alliance of higher education institutions committed to improving access, affordability, and academic success through the use of open textbooks.
What does it mean to be a part of the OEN?
- Gain fellowship and support from an active community dedicated to collaboration and sharing best practices to make higher education more affordable, equitable and accessible through open education.
- Engage faculty and build a solid base for open education at your institution by hosting and managing OEN faculty workshops, an effective strategy that raises awareness, educates, and subsequently engages faculty by inviting them to review a textbook in the Open Textbook Library (OTL).
- Expand your open education initiatives and build professional skills in open textbook publishing and open pedagogy.
Tools to Support your Work
As an OEN member, you have local and direct access to the following tools:
- Google Group Community of Practice: a diverse, welcoming environment where OEN members ask questions, share challenges and successes, and explore ways to build and sustain their programs.
- Data Dashboard: a platform for collecting your local open education engagement data in one place in order to track the impact of your initiatives, invite faculty to review textbooks in the OTL, and support open education impact reporting and advocacy.
- Community Hub: a collection of community-created, openly licensed resources to support you in conducting OEN workshops and building sustainable OER initiatives at your institution.
Added Financial Value
In addition to the reduced rate on membership, being an OEN member affords you additional savings:
- Pressbooks discounts:
- 30% off single-institution Pressbooks enterprise networks: $3400+ value
- Eligible for a complimentary one-year subscription to the Collaboration plan: $400 value
- Even lower cost of participation in the OEN’s Certificate in Open Education Librarianship program: $280 value
