The OTN’s train-the-trainer workshops increase participants’ familiarity with issues around open textbook adoption, strengthen presentation capacity for future open textbook workshops, and enhance open textbook program development.
Texas Digital Library will host train-the-trainer workshops to prepare members to implement OTN’s OER faculty incentive programs on their campuses. Approximately 30 to 50 members may attend each workshop.
These workshop will train you how to host workshops on your own campus, and introduce faculty to open textbooks and the benefits they offer to pedagogical practice and student learning. At your local workshops, ask your faculty evaluate an open textbook and decide if one could work for them. OTN reports that 45% of faculty who attend an open textbook workshop indicate an intent to adopt an open textbook.
In addition to benefits of OTN membership, TDL members who participate in OTN Workshops and the OTN Summer Institute will be part of a community of practice in increasing the adoption and adaption of open educational resources in Texas higher education.
TDL will host three regional OTN Workshops across the state: two in spring 2020 and one in fall 2020. Texas Digital Library members may attend OTN Regional Workshops with free registration. The deadline to register is February 10, 2020.
