Laura Hammons, chair of the Texas Digital Library Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (ETD) Working Group, invites all interested parties to take part in the inaugural meeting of the Texas ETD users group at the Texas Conference on Digital Libraries (TCDL) ETD Forum, to be held on May 26, 2009, at the University of Texas at Austin campus. The ETD Forum will take place from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The forum, which is part of the 2009 Texas Conference on Digital Libraries, will serve as the platform for the unveiling of a professional organization in Texas that will serve the needs of ETD users at all stages of the ETD process. The forum will focus on issues surrounding ETDs in universities, from technical management by graduate school staff to ingestion issues in libraries.
Confirmed presenters include:
- Kristy Webber, Survey Director at NORC, Survey of Earned Doctorates
- Angela McCutcheon, Director of Thesis and Dissertation Services, Ohio University
- Adam Mikeal, Lead Applications Developer and Manager (and Developer of Vireo, the TDL’s Thesis and Dissertation Submission System), Texas A&M University Libraries, Digital Initiatives, Research & Technology
Participants are encouraged to come ready to discuss their institution’s unique challenges, learn how other universities are addressing similar challenges, find opportunities for partnership, and give input to the development of the state-wide professional organization.
